When selling energy-efficient products, it is natural for sales people from home improvement businesses to want to offer the consumer estimates on the amount of energy savings they will experience. Unfortunately, providing unsubstantiated energy saving estimates can get home improvement businesses into legal trouble. Attorneys General in many states have been investigating contractors for overstating energy savings during the sales process and selling solutions that don't qualify for the promised utility or government sponsored incentives.
